He leaves behind previous life partner, Pauline Johnson, 4 kids and one child in-law, Yolanda James, Gregory James, Roberta James-Brown (companion Robert) and Brenda James, 6 grandkids, Taisheema, Catherine, Franklin, Destiney, Diamonique and Limaye and 2 extraordinary grandkids, Za’Niyah and Athen.

Johnny joined the Army just after secondary school and served in the military from January 7, 1953 until he was decently released on January 20, 1961. He lived in Nashville, TN where he went to Fisk University and lived there until 1956. He moved to Hartford, Ct in 1956 where he lived and functioned as a mechanic for Pratt and Whitney and afterward worked for Hartford Steam Boiler as a Nuclear Boiler Inspector until he surrendered to go into his own business.
