David Varner Obituary-Cause of Death!

David Varner Obituary: Passed Away! Dave moved on from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth and headed off to college at the Norfolk Division of W&M. He moved on from Virginia Tech with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1951.

Dave was in the Virginia Tech swimming crew, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma, Monogram Club, and Honor Council. After graduation, he went to work at Langley NACA (presently NASA) and turned into an undertaking engineer for Research Facilities. In 1954 he went to Naval OCS in Newport, RI. He served in the Civil Engineering Corp and left the Navy as a Lt JG. Getting back to NACA in 1957, he worked until retirement in 1985.

Dave was an individual from the Hampton Roads Jaycees, Warwick Lions Club (45 years), Hidenwood Presbyterian Church, Warwick Yacht Club, NASA Alumni Association, and CNU Life-Long Learning Society.

A portion of Dave’s leisure activities included: acrylic painting, being grown-up forerunner in Eagle exploring, strolling, mountain trail climbing and voyaging covering every one of the 50 states and most of the way all over the planet. Family vehicle trips included three 10,000 miles crosscountry.

Dave is gone before in rest by his significant other, Marilyn Carr Varner; little girl, Catherine; and child Brad.

Left to esteem his memory are his niece, Eleanor Varner Rathbun; sister-in-law, June Varner; and child in-law, Waring King.

In lieu of blossoms, the family demands dedication gifts be made to the Hidenwood Presbyterian Church at 414 Hiden Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23606 or most loved foundation.
